Seed Library

What is the seed library?

The Ypsi Seed Library is a free resource offering vegetable, flower, and herb seeds to the community. Seeds are donated by regional companies, local organizations, community gardeners, and even our own YDL gardens.

How does it work?

Like a regular library, community members are invited to “borrow” seeds from the seed library at no cost. At the end of the season, gardeners can “return” saved or unused seeds to be added back into the seed library. No library card is needed to participate!

Where can I find the Seed Library?

You’ll find a seed library at YDL-Whittaker, YDL-Michigan, and YDL-Superior. It is self-service and available during regular library hours.

How to contribute

The seed library needs your donations to be self-sustaining. The library accepts donations of non-hybrid fruit, vegetable, flower, and herb seeds, either commercially bought or saved from your garden. Seed envelopes are available at all Ypsi Seed Library locations. Please fill out the provided envelopes with as much information as possible, or fill and print this form & attach to your own envelopes.
