Wi-Fi ACCESS POLICY
Approved: 01/26/2006
Revised 4/5/2019
The Ypsilanti District Library (YDL) offers free wireless access at all of its facilities for use with portable computers and other mobile devices capable of receiving wireless signals. This wireless access is available during normal library business hours.
By choosing to use this free service, patrons agree to abide by YDL’s Internet Access Policy. This policy states the limitations of Internet access and patrons’ responsibilities for using that access.
YDL will provide general information on the settings necessary to access the Internet via its wireless network. YDL staff cannot provide technical assistance in configuring a personal computer or device or troubleshoot wireless access problems.
Wireless access points, or “hot spots,” are located throughout YDL’s facilities. Wireless users may encounter “dead” spots in the library where wireless reception may be limited.
YDL makes no guarantee that patrons will be able to make a wireless connection via its wireless network. Patrons are encouraged to check with the equipment manufacturer to verify that their device has wireless access functionality.
There is no guarantee that YDL’s wireless network is secure. Users are at risk for loss or theft of information and should take appropriate precautions with personal information while accessing YDL’s wireless network. Use of YDL’s wireless network is entirely at the risk of the user. YDL is not responsible for any information that is compromised or lost through use of its network. It is strongly suggested that all YDL wireless access users have up-to-date virus protection on their devices.
YDL assumes no responsibility for the safety of equipment or for computer or device configurations, security, or data files resulting from connection to YDL’s wireless access.
Wireless printing is available at all locations.
