In the evening on Wednesday, August 2, the rain garden revitalization began! Smooth Brome is an invasive grass species to North America that grows quickly and outcompetes other plants for resources. A group of volunteers, led by the UM Graham Summer Interns, helped to remove Smooth Brome from the rain garden along with some of the other plant species that were present.

The event lasted for a couple of hours and pizza was provided. The next steps include smoothing parts of the soil, getting a county official to assess the drainage, and putting rain garden plants back in the space.
