This year marks the 36th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and 54 years since Dr. King’s assassination. Did you know: King’s birthday became a federal holiday in 1983, and was first observed in 1986. However, it wasn’t until 2000 that all 50 states had made it a state government holiday. More about EMU's MLK Day Celebration

Kicking off Friday, January 14 through January 17, EMU will celebrate MLK Day with the theme “Rising Together For Justice.” Events will include an academic conference, CloseUp Theatre Troupe performance, keynote speaker Justin Hansford, and more. More About WCC's MLK Day Celebration

Washtenaw Community College invites the public to celebrate MLK Day over Zoom on Thursday, January 13. Along with speeches from keynote speaker Victoria Burton-Harris, WCC president Dr. Rose B. Bellanca, and WCC students, this year’s Equity in Action awards will be presented. The Zoom link can be find on WCC’s website.
