The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks

Frankie Landau-Banks is starting her sophomore year at Alabaster, a very exclusive and well-respected boarding school in New England.  Over the summer she went from gangly and awkward to downright beautiful. However, her looks may be the least remarkable thing about Frankie. While she appreciates her looks, and the doors they open for her, she is constantly annoyed that boys underestimate her because of them. She is, however, very pleased when Matthew, a senior, takes note of her new looks. When she begins dating Matthew she is sucked into his world, and his pack of guy friends. She both wants to be one of them, and resents them for treating her like a “pretty girl.” Her chance to earn some respect comes when she discovers the Disreputable History.  The Disreputable History is a book handed down by Alabaster’s very own secret society, the Basset Hounds. Matthew and his pack are the current members of the society and are unaware of the books location. Through a series of fortunate events, or maybe not so fortunate events, Frankie successfully impersonates the society’s leader through email. With the power to control the society’s prank planning she orchestrates a number of daring school pranks. Chaos and hijinks ensue. The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks is the story of a deeply complex, deeply intelligent, and deeply ambitious teenaged girl. By the end of the book you may be unsure if Frankie is really a good person, but she will take you on a wild ride.
