Celebrate National Library Week with Pop Trivia @ YDL
Thursday, April 11, 2013
The Ypsilanti District Library joins libraries in schools, campuses, and communities nationwide in celebrating National Library Week (April 14-20, 2013). First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a time to highlight the value of libraries, librarians, and library workers. Sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), it is celebrated by libraries across the country each April. Libraries today are more than repositories for books and other resources. Often at the heart of their community, libraries are deeply committed to the places where their patrons live, work, and study. Libraries are trusted places where everyone in the community can gather to reconnect and reengage with each other to enrich and shape the community and address local issues.
And libraries can be fun, too! YDL is celebrating National Library Week this year by bringing back the Pop Trivia Night competition. If you are someone who enjoys trivia and has a head full of useless knowledge, Pop Trivia Night 2013 is truly the spot for you. After a 5-year hiatus, Pop Trivia Night returns with a new format. Pop Trivia 2013 will consist of seven categories with ten questions in each category. Categories are Name That Song/Music, Movies, Fashion, Sports, Literature, Name That Celebrity Picture Round, and Television. For every round, teams will be provided with an answer sheet where they will record their answers. To learn more about rules or to register for the game, visit our Pop Trivia Night page or call (734) 482-4110 ext. 1377.
During National Library Week, YDL’s bookmobile (The Navigator) will be having give-aways, including free books at their regularly scheduled stops from 4-8 pm Monday through Thursday. While Wednesday, April 17 is National Bookmobile Day, YDL decided to celebrate our bookmobile all week. If you have never visited the bookmobile, this is a great time to get acquainted! The Ypsilanti District Library’s mission is to enrich life, stimulate intellectual curiosity, foster literacy, and encourage an informed citizenry. For more information about the Get Inspired! fundraiser or other events at YDL, visit our website or call 482-4110 ext. 1303.
