Angel Catbird

Wise and beloved Canadian author/poet/environmental activist Margaret Atwood has fun expanding her repertoire into the graphic novel format. She has been a life-long comics fan, a dedicated cat person, and an advocate for bird conservation.  So there is some logic to a superhero main character named Angel Catbird! Atwood enlists the huge talents of artist Johnnie Christmas and colorist Tamra Bonvillain to bring her fantastic story to life, and the creative backing of Dark Horse Comics as her publisher. Atwood's immense and speculative story-telling skills are clearly on display here, and she almost overdoes it with all the cat and bird puns.  At the bottom of some pages are notes about the environmental impact of outdoor cats on bird populations and tips about taking care to protect cats (from getting lost, contracting diseases and dodging cars) and controlling the cat population.Check out her website
