Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library Hold Used Book Sale
Saturday, September 4, 2010
The Friends of the Ypsilanti District Library announce the coming of their grand weekend used book sale on September 16, 17, 18 and 19. The Friends are a group of committed volunteers who help raise funds for the Ypsilanti District Library and promote the library within the community. One of their most popular fund-raising activities is the three-times-a-year used book sale at YDL-Whittaker Road, 5577 Whittaker Road. The schedule for the upcoming sale is:
- Thursday, September 16, 6-8 pm: Members’ Only Preview (memberships available at the door)
- Friday, September 17, 11-5 pm
- Saturday, September 18, 11-3 pm
- Sunday, September 19 , 1-3 pm
The Friends are active all year long receiving donated books, sorting them, and either placing them in the Friends Shop or storing them for their weekend sales. There are great bargains throughout the sale, ending on Sunday with the $3.00 per bag of books purchased. Paperbacks are 25¢, trade paperbacks and hardcover books sell for 50¢ each. A special area is set aside for unusual finds such as, history, art, cookbooks, military, and special children’s books. On Sunday, these special books will go for half price.
The community is welcome to make donations of used books at the library. The Friends remind all donors to bring only books or materials in good condition; no magazines, old textbooks, or Reader’s Digest condensed books will be accepted.
The Friends invite you to come to YDL-Whittaker Road during the sale and find a bargain and support the library at the same time. September is also designated as National Library Card Sign Up Month, so register for a library card if you just haven’t gotten around to it then.
